English Language Requirements
All of our students need to demonstrate that they have a good command of the English language.
<p><strong>2025/2026 entry:</strong><strong><br /></strong></p><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr"><strong>IELTS SELT</strong><br />IELTS (Level B2), minimum grade required: IELTS overall score of 5.5 with a minimum score of 5.0 in each component.<br />Certificate valid for two years.<br /></p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr"><strong>LanguageCert<br /></strong>LanguageCert International ESOL SELT B2.<br />Minimum grade required: Pass, with nothing less than 33 in any component Certificate valid for two years.<br /></p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr"><strong>Pearson Education Ltd<br /></strong>PTE Academic UKVI SELT (Level B2)<br />Minimum grade required: 42 overall, with a minimum of 42 in each section.<br />Certificate valid for two years.<br /></p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr"><strong>Trinity College London<br /></strong>Integrated Skills in English II (Level B2), at pass level, with a minimum of a pass in all components.<br />Certificate valid for two years.</p></li></ul>

<p dir="ltr"><strong><br />Foundation Exams</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">If undertaking a foundation course at either: INTO, Kaplan, CATs or Navitas (etc.,) we will accept their English language tests with a minimum score of 60% and no section below 55%, or equivalent. </p>

<p>You do not need to complete an additional English Language Test and you will be able to use your original degree certificate to prove you meet the English Language Requirement<strong> if </strong>you’ve recently completed a qualification equivalent to a UK degree in:</p><ul><li>Antigua and Barbuda</li><li>Australia</li><li>the Bahamas</li><li>Barbados</li><li>Belize</li><li>Dominica</li><li>Grenada</li><li>Guyana</li><li>Ireland</li><li>Jamaica</li><li>New Zealand</li><li>St Kitts and Nevis</li><li>St Lucia</li><li>St Vincent and the Grenadines</li><li>Trinidad and Tobago</li><li>UK</li><li>USA</li></ul><p>You also don’t need to complete an additional English Language Test if:</p><ul><li>you’re a national of Canada or any of the countries in the list above</li><li>you’ve successfully completed a course of 6 months or more as a Tier 4 (Child) student in the last 2 years.</li></ul>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>Pre-sessional English Language Courses</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Working with Anglo Continental School of English, these pre-sessional courses focus on the development of academic language and study skills for those planning to undertake pre-degree and undergraduate courses at Arts University Plymouth, but who do not currently meet the English entry requirements.<br /><strong><br /></strong></p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>10 Week Pre-sessional</strong></p><ul><li><strong><strong>Entry requirements</strong>: </strong>equivalent to 1.0 lower than the direct entry requirements in IELTS score system.</li><li><strong><strong>Dates: </strong></strong>Tuesday 27 May 2025 - Friday 1 August 2025</li><li><strong><strong>Fees</strong></strong><strong>: </strong>£2,030 - £8,460 (dependent on how many students enrol)</li><li><strong><strong>Application deadline</strong></strong><strong>: </strong>Monday 18 May 2025<strong><br /></strong></li></ul>

<p dir="ltr"><br />Successful completion of the pre-sessional courses means you will not need to retake an English test and will be able to progress onto your chosen course at Arts University Plymouth.<br /></p>
