International Exchanges
Choosing to spend part of your degree living, studying and even working abroad can truly enrich your university experience, not to mention increase your employability.

The Erasmus exchange programme has been in existence since the 1980s, and is a scheme that allows students to undertake study at universities in EU member states for set periods of time.

Since the UK’s exit from the EU means that the UK is no longer a member state, students from the UK can no longer participate in outgoing Erasmus exchanges, however UK universities are still welcoming incoming students from EU member states who wish to study in the UK.

Students who would like to apply to us from one of our partner institutions (detailed in the chart below) must be first nominated by their University.

The deadlines to apply for studying with us are:

15 May each year for the Autumn Semester (September – January)

15 November each year for the Spring Semester (February – June)

Find out more about the accommodation available in the city here.

At Arts University Plymouth, we are committed to providing a learning and teaching experience which includes an international dimension, and the Turing Scheme is integral to this commitment.

By providing students with global real world experience that is educationally, philosophically and culturally enriching, the Turing Scheme adds to the EU and international partnerships and exchanges the university already has to offer.

Our long-standing history of providing high quality, arts-based education involves providing unique and career-building opportunities, adding value to the UK and global economy and developing key international relationships.

By using the Turing Scheme, students not only take part in an international exchange which offers valuable global experience and real world working environments, it enables an understanding of professional life in creative disciplines. Improving self-confidence, interpersonal skills and networking, the scheme empowers and facilitates life-changing experiences abroad, developing students personally, academically and professionally.

Students who have used the scheme have been found to achieve higher results for their degrees, compared to students who stayed in one place, with evidence also showing that students taking part in the exchange also found work more quickly following graduation. Those who have participated in an international exchange are 44% more likely to hold managerial positions than their peers 10 years after graduation.
