Dr Kirsty Smith
Senior Lecturer & Course Leader
An experienced Fashion Photographer with a demonstrated history of working in the photography industry, Kirsty is skilled in Photography, Creative Direction, Production and Adobe Creative Suite. Working within extreme sports and sportswear photographer Kirsty Smith has a strong reputation in both editorial and advertising. Over the past fifteen years, Kirsty has shot for clients including Bespokeasia PR, Nike, DC, Adidas, Vans, Quiksilver, Billabong, Element, WeSC, Etnies, Oakley, Harvey Nichols, Calvin Klein, La Perla, Sands Resort, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, The BBC and Vauxhall. Kirsty is a Senior Lecturer & Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Marketing at Arts University Plymouth. She oversees modules in Fashion Photography and Fashion Film and runs the annual student visits to Fashion Week, including London and Paris. An art and design professional, Kirsty has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Contemporary Practice focused in Photography from University College Falmouth. In 2024, Kirsty was awarded her PhD in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art, London, exploring the visual narrative of skateboard media.

Alanna Morgan
Lecturer
An experienced stylist and visual merchandiser, Alanna has created window installations and overseen creative styling for some of the highstreet's best-known brands. Working at Oxford Street’s flagship Miss Selfridge and Topshop Knightsbridge in London, her creative installations have been seen by an average of 4.3 million people a week. Alanna has significant experience of retail environments and their working and has led a creative team responsible for opening stores around the UK, including high-profile store refurbishments and new store openings. Also responsible for styling for press events, Alanna studied Cultural Studies and Media Communications at Bath Spa university, where she specialized in identity in music and fashion cultures, and is passionate about the discussion of these areas within Fashion Media and Marketing.

Jenny Evans
Lecturer
Jenny Evans is an award-winning entrepreneur and artist with a global clientele for her nature-inspired artwork. She earned a First Class Honours degree in Textiles from Cardiff Metropolitan University, where she also won Santander's University Entrepreneur's national competition in 2017, securing £25k in prize money. Shortly after, Jenny raised a seed round of £350k to launch her investor-backed business, specialising in luxury homeware and fashion accessories made in the UK. While managing a team across two offices, Jenny also served as the UK Policy Chair for Young Entrepreneurs at the FSB, advocating for legislative changes to support young business leaders. She has mentored hundreds of Plymouth-based startups through her work at Outset and serves as a Trustee for Plymouth Culture, influencing the city's creative and cultural future. Now a Lecturer on BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Marketing and BA (Hons) Textile Design at Arts University Plymouth, Jenny is committed to spotlighting the next wave of creative talent.

Technical Tutor
Russell “Rusty” Cleave is a light and sound practitioner, having been a collaborative writer and cinematographer on award winning short film Je ne suis pas Charlie, screened by the BFI as the winner of the Audience Special Award for Filmmaking at NAHEMI Eat Our Shorts, and was also screened at the 'Conflict and Culture' conference in Luton. He has also directed numerous music videos premiered in mainstream and independent music publications, Kerrang, Metal Hammer, The Independent, The Guardian and Vevo. Rusty is a published academic researcher with the paper A Spirit in Place (2018) in collaboration with Tilly Craig. Watch the film here. Rusty is a multi instrumentalist who has written and recorded music with bands such as Brotherhood of the Lake, Helpless and Death Parish, releasing music on various record labels both digitally and physically (Thirty Days of Night Records/ Atticus Black, Holy Roar, Virgin Records). As a part of touring bands he has gained a wealth of experience in live performance across the UK and Europe, performing at a number of mainstream music festivals from Download in the UK to various European and UK punk and noise fests. In addition to working as a recording artist, Rusty is currently involved in composing music commercially for film and television. Throughout his career in music and film he has developed a depth of knowledge as a recording engineer, recording and producing personal and client work from his home studio.In his role as Technical Tutor at Arts University Plymouth, Rusty teaches and supports students on our Photography, Commercial Photography, Fashion Media & Marketing and Film & Screen Arts degrees.

Pip Murphy
Technical Tutor
Pip Murphy works as Technical Tutor - Media at Arts University Plymouth, alongside running his own successful wedding photography business, and shooting for brands including Puma, Plymouth Gin, and most recently shooting an olympic campaign for Adidas, featuring Team GB athletes. Pip graduated from Arts University Plymouth’s BA (Hons) Commercial Photography degree with first class honours, and went on to study a PGCE at Plymouth University. Pip’s commercial photography practice includes shooting music videos and advertising imagery, working in London studios including Spring Studios, Holborn and Shoreditch Studios. As well as seeing his work published in a range of magazines, Pip has also had work exhibited at the Truman Brewery, and at Hoxton Arches in East London.
