"It’s been a journey of self-discovery and growth. I would never have imagined ending up in the position I’m in now at the start of my time here. The experiences I’ve had, the work I’ve made, all of it is a real testament to the university's dynamic nature and the current state of Plymouth. There’s been a huge push for promoting arts and culture in the city recently, it’s humbling to see it happen to somewhere I know so well and it makes being a local emerging artist really exciting."
Molly Erin McCarthy - BA (Hons) Fine Art

"My first year has been nothing short of amazing. Contextual studies, in particular, has changed the way I view and understand the world and myself. It has enriched my practice in ways I didn't realise were possible. The lecturers have been encouraging and have gone above and beyond to support me through my academic studies. I have grown more than I could have ever imagined this first year and look forward to seeing what the second year brings."
Melanie Potter - BA (Hons) Fine Art

"The Fine Art degree is all about pushing and stretching yourself. It is designed to give you the opportunity to grow into your practice. You really will get out of it what you put in. Be brave, think BIG, it's all your choice - isn’t that great?! The best aspects of the BA Fine Art course is how open the briefs are to interpretation and how the Context, Practice and Professional development modules relate to and complement each other. If art is something you feel passionate about then come and FILL YOUR BOOTS. This was my chance to jump in with both feet. I experienced what it is like to create art through process - being in the moment, creating without any agency over the final result. I was out on a limb, but supported and encouraged enough to go there. I gained the courage to further explore the performance aspects of my practice developing metaphorical, expressionistic outdoor installations. I have played with the idea of what I want to achieve artistically as much as what I want to make."
Phil Tatton - BA (Hons) Fine Art
