Using Tasseography To Co-Design Textile Artworks

The journal article focuses on the invention of a new generative participatory design process that uses Tasseography. It is a ritualistic, participatory, performance process that implements a new set of generative tools that promotes a shared language between myself and my participants resulting in a collection of co-designed abstract textile artworks.

Exploring the suprarational, transrational and relational (Bourriaud 2009) within my practice, it is an exploration of the designer-client relationship firmly situated in collaboration and joint decision making. This approach to design focuses on shared knowledge during the tea leaf process to arrive at a design outcome that explores an individual’s spirit and wellbeing.
