Antoine Leperlier
Glass Artist & Honorary Fellow (2014)

Internationally-recognised French glass artist Antoine Leperlier is officially recognised by the French Ministry of Culture as a glass Master and Living National Treasure. Widely acknowledged as one of the most significant glass artists practicing in the world today, Antoine’s unique perspective marries thinking and making to defy fashionable distinctions between arts and crafts or ideas and artefact.

From the age of fifteen, Antoine immersed himself in the studio of his grandfather and legendary Pâte-de-verre artist François Décorchemont. Here he studied the art of lost-wax casting and began his own technical research into glass as material. Later in life, Antoine has exhibited internationally and is represented in over thirty major international glass collections, alongside winning a number of worldwide awards.

Arts University Plymouth (then Plymouth College of Art) was delighted to award Antoine an honorary fellowship award in 2014, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to contemporary art, and the realm of Pâte-de-verre.
